#PlaceAtTheTable

Because Jewish communal spaces on campus belong to all Jewish students

And all Jewish students should have a #PlaceAtTheTable

What's the issue?

Our discourse on Israel is broken.  It is narrow, exclusionary and crying out for nuance. We want to fix it.

We're a group of Jewish students, each holding active roles of responsibility in the Jewish community at the local, regional and national level - in our synagogues, in our JSOCs or in our youth movements.

Jewish communal spaces on campus belong to all Jewish students. They must welcome and provide a space for all Jewish students regardless of political persuasions.

No Jewish student should feel alienated and excluded at their JSoc because of their views on Israel.

Many JSocs are working hard to be inclusive and represent the entire Jewish student community. However, there are students that feel unwelcome at their JSocs because of their views on Israel. These students are less likely to feel they have a place at the Friday night dinner table and other events.

We want our JSocs to commit to ensuring that conversations and events will cover a range of views on Israel and are thus representative of all Jewish students’ views.

We seek to increase the number of voices which are heard.

We urge university Jewish Societies, as representatives of the Jewish student population to pledge to inclusivity on campus.

The pledge:

As communal spaces for Jewish students, we pledge to represent the wide breadth of Jewish voice and opinion concerning Israel on campus. We  sign up to Israel inclusivity and to ensuring that everyone feels they have a #PlaceAtTheTable

Add your name to the campaign to show support for JSoc inclusivity.
